As far as converting an existing object? Not sure at the moment...
I'll check into it.
Starting new... start with a box. Turn on MetaNURBS, and away you go.
If you need more segments, MetaForm the box, once, twice, or whatever.
BTW, there's a new plugin called MetaForm2, that allows you to set
how many levels of MetaForm at once, among others.
